Handwoven Carpet, All-over Floral Layout, Wool and Silk on Cotton Warp, Isfahan, 145 × 220 cm Ref 10300355
This handwoven Isfahan rug, measuring 145 × 220 cm (4'9" × 7'3") with an area of 3.19 m² (34.34 ft²), features an all-over design. Its weaving density is approximately 10,000 knots/dm². Produced under the Iran Carpet Company brand, the building of the Iran Carpet Company is a structure constructed between the years 1290 and 1300 on Ferdowsi Street in central Tehran. In 1314, the Iran Carpet Company was established in this very building by order of the government of the time, with the aim of production, design, and research in the field of handwoven carpets. In this rug, the all-over layout with silk flowers poetically covers the entire field, and no central medallion interrupts the unity of the blossoms. Shah-Abbasi floral motifs, drawn with soft lines over a blue ground, create a scene filled with life, serenity, and splendor. Cream borders frame this artistic expanse, bringing about a balanced harmony of color and form. This rug is a fusion of tradition and innovation, of art and history.
