This all-silk handwoven carpet from Qom, featuring an all-over design with bird motifs, unfolds like a piece of poetry transformed into imagery. Woven in dimensions of 100 × 146 cm (3'3" × 4'9") with an area of 1.46 m² (15.72 ft²), it encapsulates a world of beauty and meaning within its frame. With a weaving density of approximately 10,000 knots/dm², it stands as testimony to the weaver’s mastery in creating a finely knotted piece, presented under the “Hekmatirad” brand. The all-over design with bird motifs evokes the flight of imagination and the freedom of the soul. At the upper field of the rug, two symmetrical peacocks with open feathers are depicted. In Iranian art, the peacock often symbolizes beauty and immortality. The central area and its surroundings are filled with cages hosting a variety of birds such as parrots, nightingales, and others. The all-over composition of this rug, free of a fixed central focus, resembles a boundless and infinite garden where the motifs carry the viewer on an endless journey through branches of imagination. The blue ground lends a serene and delightful radiance to the entire piece, while the dark navy border, like a luminous jewel frame, enhances the unity and artistic depth of this carpet.
