An all-silk Qom carpet inspired by the world’s oldest known pile carpet, the “Pazyryk,” now reinterpreted with a fresh, modern sensibility and woven with precision, taste, and authenticity. Size: 98 × 140 cm (3'3" × 4'7"); Area: 1.38 m² (14.85 ft²). Approximate knot density: 10,000 knots/dm². This piece by the Safiraei brand, woven entirely in silk, presents a soft, lustrous surface that makes colors more vivid, motifs deeper, and the design more tangible. The Pazyryk carpet is regarded as the oldest surviving pile carpet in the world; it was discovered in the years 1949–1947 by the Russian archaeologist Sergei Rudenko in the Pazyryk Valley in the Altai Mountains within the territory of Russia. According to many archaeologists, the piece was made by Iranian artists and presented as a gift to a Scythian king. The all-over design of this carpet is based on the Pazyryk rug’s pattern: a geometric, rhythmic, and symbolic scheme rooted in Scythian civilization and the ancient heritage of Central Asia. Geometric forms, mounted horsemen, decorative bands, and repeating motifs—rendered in a unified warm-brown palette across both field and border—lend the rug an original and dignified grandeur. This chromatic uniformity does not simplify the design; rather, it creates coherence, depth, and a sense of antiquity. More than a decorative object, this carpet is a visual document of history, art, and identity.
