This all-silk floral all-over design rug with a silk warp from Isfahan, crafted by the Abtin brand, draws inspiration from Persian literature and mysticism, portraying a pictorial scene of the gathering of the philosopher-poet Omar Khayyam. Omar Khayyam of Nishapur, a poet and philosopher of the 11th and 12th centuries CE, is evoked here in a refined and luminous woven tableau. Measuring 128 × 208 cm (4'2" × 6'10") with an area of 2.67 m² (28.75 ft²), the rug serves as a vivid canvas, leading the viewer into a banquet of thought, wine, blossoms, and philosophy. Across the field, floral motifs are spread in an endless, borderless arrangement; silken blossoms encircle Khayyam’s banquet in a paradisiacal setting. The weaving density, approximately 7,300 knots/dm², reflects remarkable craftsmanship. The precision and harmony in rendering the pictorial motifs convey a palpable sense of movement and life within the scene. The multicolored ground tones infuse the composition with gentle warmth and poetic elegance, while the beige-toned border acts as a neutral, balanced frame, drawing the gaze directly into the heart of the artwork.
