Handwoven Carpet, Tree of Life Layout, Wool and Silk on Wool Warp, Tabriz, 150 × 205 cm Ref 10300052
This handwoven silk-flower rug from Tabriz, bearing the signature of Hossein Bigham, is created in a tree design inspired by flourishing gardens, where birds are depicted among branches and silken blossoms in an eternal flight. It is as if the rug is not spread upon the ground but unfolded within a dream. The rug is rectangular, measuring 150 × 205 cm (4'11" × 6'9") with an area of 3.08 m² (33.15 ft²). It features a wool warp combined with silk floral elements, producing a harmony of durability and radiant brilliance. The weaving density of this work is approximately 3,300 knots/dm². Although less dense than the finest examples, it achieves an artistic equilibrium through its carefully arranged motifs and delicate composition, successfully balancing structure and softness. A light cedar-green tone dominates both the field and the border, forming a seamless and tranquil harmony that invites the viewer into serene silence and deep contemplation. This hue, reminiscent of young spring branches, conveys a sense of freshness and renewal throughout every corner of the space.
