This antique handwoven rug, featuring a refined medallion-and-corner design inspired by Shah-Abbasi floral motifs, is a masterpiece of Mashhad carpet weaving. Measuring 318 × 422 cm (10'5" × 13'10") with an area of 13.42 m² (144.47 ft²), and crafted under the “Saber Carpet” brand, it is created for expansive and dignified interiors. The weaving density is approximately 7,300 knots/dm², a fineness achievable only by the skilled hands of master weavers. The central medallion, symmetrically positioned on the cream-colored field, shines like a radiant gem set in the calm bed of nature. Shah-Abbasi floral motifs, rendered with meticulous detail, ornament the surface, creating a harmonious dance of color and form flowing across the field. The madder-red border, in striking contrast with the serene background, forms a bold and impressive frame around the piece. A soft wool pile combined with a strong cotton warp ensures both durability and suppleness, providing this rug with a balance of firmness and tactile comfort.
