This Tabriz handwoven silk-flower rug with an all-over pictorial design narrates a scene from “Majles-e Balqis,” a legendary tale that ancient texts regard as a symbol of splendor, wisdom, and a distinctly feminine presence within gatherings of power and knowledge. Measuring 200 × 280 cm (6'7" × 9'2") with an area of 5.06 m² (54.47 ft²), it is created under the Sheikh Azimi brand and, with a density of approximately 5,100 knots/dm², belongs among detailed works in which every knot is placed with disciplined precision. The border depicts historic sites including the Blue Mosque of Tabriz, Chehel Sotoun in Isfahan, and the Soltaniyeh Dome in Zanjan. The composition employs silk-flower highlights on a cotton warp, yielding a soft, lustrous handle that deepens the palette as light plays across the surface. A multicolored field, balanced by a rich navy border, achieves a rare equilibrium between liveliness and poise. This rug is more than a luxury item; it is a woven curtain of history and legend emerging from Iranian culture. Viewing it is a journey into an imagined palace where Balqis and Solomon converse amid floral thickets and the dreamlike architecture of the East, and time seems to come to rest.
