This antique handwoven rug with a mihrab design is a distinguished expression of the grandeur of Isfahan’s artistic heritage. A rectangular piece measuring 140 × 210 cm (4'7" × 6'11") with an area of approximately 2.94 m² (31.65 ft²), it narrates the interweaving of art, mysticism, and nature within the fabric of the Persian carpet. The mihrab composition of this work, balanced and harmonious in structure, evokes a sacred atmosphere, as though transforming the heart of the home into a sanctuary of serenity and reflection. Within this imaginative mihrab, floral motifs are arranged with artistic refinement—flowers in warm, authentic hues blossoming like branches from Persian gardens of imagination across a cream-colored field, framed by a madder-red border that imparts solidity and visual weight. The wool yarn used for the weft, combined with a cotton warp, represents a deliberate choice to achieve durability, softness, and structural stability. With a weaving density of about 4,100 knots/dm², the rug reflects a moderate fineness that balances precision with traditional texture, placing this work among the authentic and well-crafted rugs of Isfahan.
