This antique handwoven rug from Tabriz, in a medallion-and-corner design with the distinguished “Sheikh Safi” layout, measures 300 × 400 cm (9'10" × 13'1") with an area of 12 m² (129.17 ft²). A cream field serves as a bright canvas for a garden of artful, symmetrical blossoms. Inspired by the architecture of the mausoleum of Sheikh Safi al-Din Ardabili, the layout lends the piece a historic, contemplative spirit: a majestic central medallion, in full harmony with the delicate corner motifs, shines like a sun amid traditional blooms. The green border, in rare proportion, imparts calm and freshness. Soft wool with a natural-fiber warp, together with a weaving density of approximately 3,300 knots/dm², results in an orderly, resilient construction—an intelligent choice for a rug of this size.
