Rare Antique Handwoven Carpet, Corner Medallion Layout, Wool on Cotton Warp, Kashan, 320 × 430 cm Ref 11300107
An antique handwoven rug measuring 320 × 430 cm (10'6" × 14'1") with an area of 13.76 m² (148.11 ft²), created in soft wool with a cotton warp. Its orderly weave—equivalent to approximately 3,300 knots/dm²—demonstrates a cohesive, detail-rich construction that showcases the weaver’s skill through a measured, deliberate rhythm. The classic medallion-and-corner design is brought to life by a distinctive palette: a copper-toned field that casts a warm, poetic atmosphere, framed by a regal navy border that encloses the composition with stately grace. Classical floral motifs, inspired by the Iranian garden, are articulated in harmony with the geometry of the medallion-and-corner layout—flowers seemingly blooming within each medallion and spandrel, uniting natural elegance with structural balance.
