Square Machine-Made Rugs

Square formats are hard to find and power looms make them accessible. This is a small collection because square rooms are less common than rectangular ones, but when you need one nothing else fits.

Where a square works

Under a square dining table. In a majlis where seating runs along all four walls. In a square entrance hall. And in children's rooms and play areas, where a square gives a defined zone without the directional pull of a rectangle.

Sizing

In a square room, leave an even margin of floor on all four sides — usually 40 to 60 cm. Under a square dining table, add at least 120 cm to the table dimension so chairs stay on the rug when pulled out. For a seating group, the front legs of every seat should rest on the rug.
