Round Handmade Rugs
Round Hand-Knotted Rugs
Round carpets are uncommon in Persian weaving, and there is a technical reason. A loom is rectangular. Producing a circle means the weaver must shorten every row as she approaches the curve while keeping tension even across the whole piece — considerably harder than weaving a rectangle, and one of the reasons genuine hand-knotted rounds are scarce and priced accordingly.
Where a round rug is the right answer
Under a round dining table, where a rectangular rug always leaves awkward dead corners. In an entrance hall or under a stairwell, where a circle softens the geometry of the space. Beneath a round coffee table in a seating group. And in any room that is already full of straight lines — a circle is the fastest way to break that up.
Sizing
Under a dining table, measure the table diameter and add at least 120 cm to the rug diameter, so chairs stay on the rug when pushed back. In an entrance, the rug should relate to the door width and the space itself rather than filling the floor. As a rule, going slightly larger looks intentional and slightly smaller looks like a mistake.
Our round selection is small because the supply genuinely is. If nothing here fits, ask — we can commission specific sizes, with a lead time of roughly six months.
