This collection holds only pieces we consider genuinely exceptional — by age, by the reputation of the workshop, by rarity of type, or by a quality of weaving that is simply no longer produced.
What puts a carpet in this group
Usually a combination. A documented workshop signature. A weaving structure characteristic of a period that ended. Natural dyes in a colour range that has not been reproduced since synthetic dyes arrived in Iran in the late nineteenth century. Or a design type that survives in very few examples.
Condition is assessed honestly rather than favourably. An unrestored antique with even, honest wear is worth more to a serious buyer than one that has been aggressively repaired. Where a piece has been restored, we say exactly what was done and by whom.
How to buy from this collection
Not through a shopping cart. Contact us and we will send full photography including the reverse and the selvedges, our written condition report, and everything we know about the provenance. We arrange private viewings at our Al Barsha showroom, and we will cooperate fully with any independent appraiser or conservator you wish to involve.
Pieces at this level are bought once. There is no rush, and we would rather you were certain.
