Oversized and Palace-Size Carpets
Carpets above 24 square metres — roughly 400 x 600 cm and larger. These are woven on purpose-built looms by teams of weavers working side by side, sometimes for several years on a single piece. Very few workshops in Iran still produce at this scale.
Who buys them
Villa reception rooms and formal majlis, hotel lobbies and ballrooms, embassies and royal residences, and the occasional very large apartment. In the UAE this is a more active market than almost anywhere else, which is why we keep pieces of this size in stock rather than working to order.
Practical considerations
Three things people underestimate. Weight: a fine 5 x 8 metre wool carpet can exceed 150 kg, and installation needs four people and a clear route in. Access: measure your doorways, lift and stairwell, not just the room — we have had to hoist carpets over balconies more than once. Sub-floor: on marble, a large carpet without a pad will creep, and the resulting wrinkles damage the foundation over time.
We handle delivery and installation ourselves for pieces at this size, at no extra cost within the UAE. We will also come and measure your space beforehand, which we strongly recommend — returning a 6 x 9 metre carpet is not a simple matter.
