This old handwoven rug with a Mihrab design, emerging from the authentic, storytelling weaves of Tabriz, is a window onto the city’s history, culture, and art—an eloquent example of how grandeur of tradition blends with refined design. Measuring 115 × 170 cm (3'9" × 5'7") with an area of 1.96 m² (21.10 ft²) and a weaving density of 4,100 knots/dm², it offers a fine, cohesive texture that reflects the exceptional skill of Tabriz weavers. The use of premium wool together with a thread warp lends the rug admirable strength and a pleasant softness, making it ideal for display in artistic and luxurious settings. Rooted in Islamic architecture, the mihrab layout is here combined with a hunting scene, beautifully portraying the meeting of mysticism and dynamism. Within the sanctuary arch, scenes of pristine nature and imaginative hunting grounds unfold: gazelles, lions, and birds move among gently swaying branches like living leaves in an illustrated book. A madder-red field imparts a discreet, aristocratic warmth, and, in harmonious contrast with a cream border, captures the viewer’s attention at first glance. This rug bears the Talischi-zadeh brand—a name that, for rug enthusiasts, stands for innovation, finesse, and authenticity. More than a decorative commodity, it is a work of art that narrates a worldview: a people who place warp and weft side by side like sacred words, entrusting their heritage to future generations.
