This antique handwoven rug with a medallion design hails from an era when pattern and color served as the shared language of beauty and culture. In the distinguished geography of Iranian art, Tabriz has always shone like a radiant gem atop the crown of Persian carpet weaving. This rectangular piece, measuring 143 × 185 cm (4'8" × 6'1") with an area of 2.65 m² (28.52 ft²), preserves within its warp and weft the spirit of creativity and authenticity. Set against a deep navy-blue field, the central medallion is positioned with calculated precision—its surrounding geometric motifs reflecting a remarkable sense of symmetry and order. The cream-toned borders, like a golden frame around a painting, soften the bold presence of the field and bring a soothing contrast to the composition. With a weaving density of about 1,800 knots/dm², this rug belongs to the semi-coarse weave category—a texture that combines high durability with a traditional, rustic warmth. The pile of wool and the cotton warp form a classic, intelligent choice; over time, not only has the quality endured, but the natural sheen of the wool has enriched the texture, making the rug even more pleasing and vibrant. A notable feature of this piece is the use of orderly geometric forms in harmony with the traditional medallion format. The result is a rug that finds its place not only in classic interiors but also within contemporary spaces, serving as a bridge between tradition and modern taste. This rug is more than a floor covering; it is a living testament to the artistic history of Tabriz—something to be read, touched, and lived with. For those who seek art in the quiet presence of carpets, it offers an invitation: to reflect, and to embrace beauty.
