This antique handwoven Malayer rug, in a refined and intricate medallion-and-corner design, not only recalls the grandeur of classical Iranian carpets but also reflects a vivid, breathing creativity in its weaving. Measuring 130 × 190 cm (4'3" × 6'3") with an area of 2.47 m² (26.59 ft²), and woven at approximately 6,200 knots/dm², it belongs to the very fine category—evidence of the exceptional skill of Malayer weavers who set each knot with patient, discerning hands. A high-quality wool pile on a cotton warp is laid over a calming cream field, while a blue border introduces a pleasing, thoughtful contrast that stabilizes the composition. The fish motif flowing within the central medallion and the corner spandrels is among the oldest and most cherished patterns in Persian carpets, symbolizing life, blessing, and continuity. More than decoration, this rug carries a message of deep, authentic Iranian aesthetics—an artwork that offers a fresh story of culture and craft with every look.
