This handwoven rug, featuring a vase design with pictorial elements, is a gentle and imaginative evocation of the union between nature and art—a blossom-filled vase unfolding across a ground of varied colors, telling a wordless story of life and grandeur. In the upper section, the portrait of Reza Shah Pahlavi, a modern-era monarch of Iran, is rendered with care and finesse; in the lower section, Jamshid, one of Iran’s legendary kings, is depicted battling a mythical creature—a scene inspired by the bas-reliefs of Persepolis—creating a deep link between modern history and ancient Iranian mythology. Measuring 135 × 184 cm (4'5" × 6'0") with an area of 2.49 m² (26.80 ft²) and a weaving density of approximately 3,300 knots/dm², this piece—woven with fine-quality wool and a warp of yarn—stands as an enduring work of the Farahani weavers. Although the density is not in the ultrafine range, it preserves the authenticity of the design and imparts a warm, inviting character, making it an impeccable choice for spaces with an Iranian spirit or a classic décor. The multicolored ground, in pleasing harmony with a dark navy border, forms a balanced and stately structure that seems to frame the rug like a valuable tableau. This appealing contrast enhances the visual allure of the piece, making it both decorative and functional.
