This antique Farahan handwoven rug, featuring an all-over fish motif and a remarkable harmony of colors, seems to whisper a tale from the heart of history with every knot. The fish motif—one of the most authentic and time-honored patterns in Persian carpets—is executed here with notable mastery; through a symmetrical layout it imparts a simultaneous sense of order, serenity, and motion. A deep navy field, like starry desert nights, forms a captivating ground for the motifs to shine, while the madder-red border, with its warm and lively tone, provides a masterful frame for this pictorial narrative. Measuring 130 × 195 cm (4'3" × 6'5") with an area of 2.54 m² (27.34 ft²) and an approximate weaving density of 3,300 knots/dm², the piece is woven with fine wool and a cotton warp—an arrangement that brings durability, strength, and softness together. In each knot, one finds the touch of a weaver who has not merely interlaced warp and weft, but has infused the spirit of Farahan into the fabric.
