This antique Tabriz rug from the "Haddad" Carpet brand, featuring a mihrab (prayer-niche) design with animal imagery, is among the most distinguished expressions of Tabriz weaving— a city long synonymous with finesse and creative ingenuity. The composition presents a mihrab with a bird resembling a crane or stork at the center, shown either hunting or feeding a smaller bird. This scene, a recurrent theme in Iranian art, is accompanied by animal motifs embedded in a mythic spirit—an artful fusion of nature and sacredness. Measuring 140 × 190 cm (4'7" × 6'3") with an area of 2.73 m² (29.39 ft²), this rectangular piece is woven in fine wool with a cotton warp.
