This antique handwoven rug with a medallion-and-corner design, measuring 130 × 200 cm (4'3" × 6'7") with an area of 2.6 m² (27.99 ft²), in a rectangular format, recalls the classical and harmonious geometry of Iranian architecture. The medallion-and-corner pattern, with its soft curves, places gentle blossoms around the central medallion, spreading an atmosphere of symmetry and balance throughout the rug. A cream field with a matching border creates a composition of unity and dignity, drawing attention to the floral motifs at the heart of the design. Made of wool with a cotton warp, it represents a traditional and enduring material, offering both structural strength and a pleasant softness to the touch. The weaving density of about 4,100 knots/dm² is a testament to admirable precision and geometric order in the motifs—an impressive figure for a woolen rug, surpassing typical expectations. This antique Yazd rug is not merely a remnant of the past but a gentle, enduring voice of tradition that still resonates warmly within Iranian homes.
